Upgrade your Self-Service Analytics with Orchestration

Picture this: You’re an analyst or analytics engineer setting up connections and processes in your entire data stack, and you don't need to use a single line of Python or rely on DevOps. That is one of the many benefits of using Shipyard’s low-code open source blueprints for data orchestration.

Your data pipeline runs all the way through your business intelligence tools, eventually reaching end users who want trustworthy, clear, and actionable data. The ultimate goal is to help make the world a more data-driven place, which is the core mission of ThoughtSpot. Their unique interface allows users to search their data using natural language query (NLQ), with no predefined filters, empowering end users to explore their own data and create visualizations.

Until now, you had to rely on within-tool configurations in ThoughtSpot to orchestrate moving content to end users, or pushing BI data back into your data sources.

Wouldn't it be awesome if you could centralize moving ThoughtSpot content to the right people/tools along with the rest of the processes in Shipyard?

Good news! We have an exciting new integration that can help.

Introducing our ThoughtSpot Blueprints

Starting today, Shipyard is unveiling several brand new low-code Blueprints that make working with ThoughtSpot Answers, Liveboards, and data a breeze.

The powerful combination of Shipyard and ThoughtSpot guarantees that your team has an efficient and user-friendly way to both orchestrate and utilize your underlying ThoughtSpot data with low-code, version-controlled tools!

By providing a ThoughtSpot API Key and credentials, you can mix and match Blueprints to:

Centralizing BI Content Actions with ThoughtSpot and Shipyard

Previously, there were several different and decentralized ways to send ThoughtSpot Answers, Liveboards, and data: ThoughtSpot Sync, Scheduling a Liveboard,  or by setting up Monitor Alerts for KPI Answers. So, if your organization wanted to keep track of all the ways and endpoints that content was being sent, there was no one stop shop in ThoughtSpot to see and control exports. Additionally, there was no option to kick off other processes before or after sharing ThoughtSpot content.

Utilizing the "Export Answer Report", "Export Liveboard Report", and “Download Search Results to CSV” Blueprints in Shipyard, you can craft a smooth workflow that sends content downstream, and even moves content upstream to locations like S3 or Azure Blob Storage. ThoughtSpot is always updating content in Answers and Liveboards with live data from your cloud data platform; now you can now create a workflow to send reports once data is finished updating in your cloud data platform after an ETL job is finished. That’s just one example - there’s many other possibilities!

Furthermore, Shipyard provides the advantage of automatically stopping downstream jobs from starting if your upstream jobs in the pipeline face any failures. This allows you to address problems elsewhere in your data pipeline before content is shared to your end users. Not only does this increase trust in the data accuracy, but with the data team as a whole. It also increases efficiency of finding and addressing issues in the data pipeline.

Unify All Your Data Tools with ThoughtSpot and Shipyard

Shipyard enables you to quickly connect actions in other tools to ThoughtSpot with any script you write in Python, Bash, or Node.js. There are integrations with other common processes that involve interactions with external databases (such as Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, etc.) or data storage solutions (like AWS S3, Google Cloud Storage, etc.) using our user-friendly Blueprint Library.

Shipyard takes automation and integration of ThoughtSpot to the next level by expanding its functionalities to encompass various other data tools you utilize. By leveraging the robust Shipyard platform, your team gains enhanced flexibility in constructing a modular pipeline. This pipeline eliminates the need for fragile, time-dependent connections between disparate systems.

Here are a few examples on how ThoughtSpot can integrate with various services, allowing you to create solutions that match your data team’s needs:

  • Upload a CSV of search data results to Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or Databricks
  • Add Answers or Liveboards to storage like Amazon S3, Box, and Dropbox
  • Send ThoughtSpot content in email or slack once an Fivetran sync has completed.
  • After a dbt Cloud job has executed, move your refreshed ThoughtSpot content to other storage or sent it via messaging.
